Show Control System: How do I control Venus Control Suite schedules via Display Studio buttons?

This article covers the steps to have scheduled content to play on your displays from Venus Control Suite's Scheduling App when outside of event times. Schedule content within Venus Control Suite so you can be in control of what date ranges, time ranges, and days of the week your content should play. When outside of event times, this type of control might matter to maximize sponsorship exposures, coordination, or event private event content.

Steps
Setup Playlist in Venus Control Suite
- Log into Venus Control Suite
- Typically bookmarked in the Google Chrome browser of your Show Control computer or can be accessed using the Blue Play logo for VCS on your Desktop of the Show Control computer.
- Navigate to the Scheduling app on the left-hand side My Apps menu
- Create a playlist by clicking "Add New"
- Choose playlist properties: Start date & End date: Time ranges : days of the week
- or adjust media file properties within a playlist
- If you are taking over regularly scheduled content - Use an Override or Exclusive Mode Playlist for easy takeovers

Create Schedule Mode - On button
- Create a new button
- On 1, select Venus Control Suite Display Control.
- On 2, select the sign you wish to control.
- On 3, keep Set Schedule Mode selected.
- On 4, select on
- Name the button at the top, give a notable color (color wheel in the top right) and Save

Create Schedule Mode - Off Button
- Copy and Paste the previously created Schedule Mode On button
- Skip to step 4
- Select Off
- Rename the button and save.
You should have two separate buttons to toggle Venus Control Suite scheduling mode.
Toggle On and Off between event times
Use the two buttons to switch between live event content (using Display Studio Buttons) and your scheduled content in Venus Control Suite. The benefit with switching between these modes is to utilize the strong, flexible scheduling capabilities that Venus Control Suite offers:
- Proactive scheduling
- Day Parted Content
- Using Playlist or Media File Properties to control the scheduled content while you are not there
To turn on your scheduled content
- Click on the "VCS Schedule Mode - On" button
- This will start any playlists that are active and meet the playlist and media file properties' criteria
To go back to Live Event content in Display Studio
- Click on the "VCS Schedule Mode - Off" button
- Display Studio buttons are now in control - click on the button you would like play out to your display zones
