The school serves approximately 4,000 students in grades 7–12, making it one of the larger secondary schools in the region. Despite its size, Director of Student Activities Andy Jimmo describes Robinson as a place with a strong sense of community.

We have a great community. A wonderful athletic booster club, great administration, and great students who compete on and off the field and in the classroom.

Replacing an Aging Scoreboard With a High School LED Video Board

When Jimmo started at Robinson in 2013, the school’s scoreboards were showing their age. The leadership team saw an opportunity to modernize the game‑day experience.

“We wanted to get a video board. We thought it would be able to add to the athletic experience we have here.”

With the support of the school’s booster club and the surrounding community, Robinson moved forward with a Daktronics LED video board, becoming the first school in their county to install one.

A Step‑by‑Step Partnership With Daktronics

For Robinson, the process mattered as much as the product.

“Daktronics gave us a step‑by‑step process, explains Jimmo.” They gave us a timeline. They set everything up and walked us through everything. It was great to work with them.”

From planning to installation, the clear communication and hands‑on support helped Robinson bring the project to life with confidence.

A Video Board That Does More Than Show the Score

The new Daktronics LED video board quickly became a multi‑purpose tool for the school.

Robinson now uses the display for:

  • Live announcements
  • Senior spotlight features
  • Live camera shots (band entrances, team walk‑outs, crowd moments)
  • Sponsorship and advertising content
  • In‑game engagement

“We follow our band out, we follow our football team out, we put it on the crowd,” Jimmo said.
“It’s added to the crowd experience and the game‑day experience.”

The result has been noticeable. “We’ve seen more crowds and more people coming to our games because of our scoreboard.”

Generating Revenue Through Sponsorships and Advertising

Beyond engagement, the video board has also created new financial opportunities, selling sponsorships and ads to generate revenue.

This revenue helps support student activities while giving community partners visibility during high‑attendance events.

Customer Service Makes a Difference

Jimmo says he would recommend that schools considering a video board work with Daktronics.

The reason why is their customer service. You can call them anytime. They can help you out with anything. It doesn’t matter what time of day. Their tech support has been fantastic.
